Ray Price Racing took home the Wally in the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series at the Kansas Nationals. It was the team’s second win of the year, but their first at a national event in 2015.
“It’s about time. We’ve been #1 qualifier every race, but on Sundays we made mistakes. Now we finally got it under control,” said rider Tommy Grimes. “I love winning at a national event too. I could not wait to call my wife and kids and tell them.”
Grimes lead the pack as the #1 qualifier, beating Brian Jernigan and Len Darnell on his way to the finals to face Rick “Sharkey” House.
It turned out to be a long day at Heartland Park Topeka. Light showers passed through the area all day causing several delays and extenuating circumstances surrounding the race track had NHRA staffing the entire event. But through everything, Ray Price had nothing but praise for the men and women of the NHRA.
“This track has been great. The weather hasn’t been so good, but NHRA did a great job putting everything together,” said Price. “I’m proud of how Safety Safari and everything that has been done and how NHRA has made it work-out.”
